“Trees are a thing of beauty which enhance our landscape.  They are our legacy for the future”

💚A BIG thank you to all who have taken part in this project so far. To those members and Institutes who have not yet taken part we have agreed with the Woodland Trust to extend the deadline for orders to 24th September 2021.

Calling all members to plant a tree in their garden or a pot and to get family and friends to do so. Saplings are at a subsidised rate of 50p each.

🌳As well, Institutes look for space in your Area for an Institute plantation/copse. Contact your local Council, landowners, farmers, churches, schools, Road Service, etc. and tell them that you can supply saplings at 50p each.

🌳Christmas is coming up! Plant a sapling in a pot (crab apple and hazel will do well) and tie a ribbon around it – the perfect present!

🌳WI 90th Celebration in 2022 – Find a spot where you can celebrate our 90th anniversary, leave a legacy for the future and strike a blow against climate change by planting saplings. Mark the copse with a plaque.

Fill in the order form and return to HQ with your cheque by Friday, 24th September 2021. (Please make cheques payable to ‘Federation of WINI’)

More details in the Summer 2021 edition of the Ulster Countrywoman. Don’t forget to send in photos of your planting: editor@wini.org.uk

Drumbeg WI – Planting Progress🌱

This copse was planted on behalf of our Drumbeg Institute in McIlroy Park, Lisburn – 41 trees for 41 Drumbeg members! A plaque to mark the spot (and featuring our WI logo) was erected by Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council.

Has your WI group been planting? If so, we’d love to see your photographs.
