After two venue changes, due to unforeseen circumstances, the Magazine and Leisure Sub-Committee members were very fortunate to be offered the venue of the Holy Trinity Parish Church hall at Soldierstown, Aghalee to host the Federation Bowls Final tournament.

On Saturday 18th March all twenty-one Areas were represented and, after a warm welcome to everyone by Magazine and Leisure Sub-Committee acting Chairman Dorothy Andrews, bowling commenced on time.

After three runs of the mat, the quarter- final was played by Londonderry, Inver, Lower Bann, Moyallen, Clogher Valley, Roe Valley, Knockagh and Rowallane. The successful teams that went forward to the semi-final were Inver, Lower Bann, Roe Valley and Rowallane.  After some very close games, the final was played by Elma Irwin from Macosquin WI representing Lower Bann and Dorothy McMullan from Myroe WI representing Roe Valley.   A very exciting final, with some very close ends, resulted in Dorothy McMullan, Roe Valley becoming the 2017 WI Bowler of the Year and winner of the Milk Marketing Board Salver.

Dorothy Andrews then delivered a sincere Vote of Thanks to Holy Trinity Parish Church for the use of their facilities, to the ladies of the church for providing the delicious catering, to John the umpire for his expertise in overseeing the tournament and to everyone concerned with the running of the competition and, of course, a big thank you was extended to all the ladies for taking part.

Federation Chairman Elizabeth Warden was then called upon to present the salver to the winner.
