The Women’s Institute supported *The Family Appeal* in the run-up to Christmas 2022. This initiative is led annually by The Salvation Army and St. Vincent de Paul and has been helping people in need in Northern Ireland to celebrate Christmas for over 40 years. With the cost of living ever increasing, the demand for support was at a record high in 2022 and WI members did not hesitate to involved…

Federation Chairman Margaret Broome commented:

“A huge THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to our knitted items appeal. We were overwhelmed with the response. On Tuesday 6th December, Sheelagh McRandal (Federation Treasurer), Sandra Ledlie (Iveagh Executive Member/Home and Garden Committee) and myself delivered over 16 big black bags full of knitted items to The Salvation Army HQ in Sydenham, Belfast. Representatives Ben Ellis (of The Salvation Army) and Pauline Brown (of St. Vincent de Paul) were delighted to receive these items and assured us they will all be given out to people who are less fortunate than ourselves – distributed to families most in need and amongst people in the homeless community. Supporting this very worthy cause concluded our Federation’s 90th Anniversary celebrations – and what more fitting way than to do what the WI is famous for, helping others.”
