Downpatrick WI January 2017 report
President Edwina Marr welcomed everyone to the first meeting of the new year, especially new members who transferred from Killyleagh Institute. Edwina highlighted forthcoming WI events and new projects that are being supported by ACWW.
A selection of poetry and prose entries for the 2016 Festival of the Spoken Word were read and these included works by Joan Bakewell, Peter Mayle and C,S. Lewis.
The quiz team for the Quoile area competition is Margaret Orr, Joan Gordon and Lorraine Girvan with Rosalind Wheeler as reserve.
Gladys Taylor was the birthday girl and Lorraine Girvan won the ballot prize. Geraldine Gray was the winner of the Mae Liggett competition for decorated shortbread.
