The guest speaker at the May meeting was Averil Milligan who exhibited a beautiful range of handmade soaps which she produces locally. Averil is head gardener for the National Trust and she explained how she has applied her love of plants and medicinal herbs to making sumptuous soaps using shea butter and infusions of essential oils. Sharon McVeigh proposed the vote of thanks.
President Edwina Marr gave an update on Downpatrick’s successes in the Balmoral show .She also shared photographs of the very enjoyable Quoile area event , “Women Walk the World” which has raised funds to develop the standard of living for rural women and their families.
