Golf Competition 2015
WI Golfer of the Year!
Following on from the success of the Dubai Irish Open Golf Tournament, the WI held their very own successful competition at Rockmount Golf Club on Monday 1st June 2015. Royal County Down is almost equalled for the view that opened out in front of us as we drove into Rockmount in Carryduff. Whilst we could not claim to have celebrity golfers like Rory McIlroy or Sergio Garcia, we certainly have many talented and enthusiastic golfers in our WI ranks! Twenty-nine of these ladies took part on a day which had mixed weather to either help or hinder their golf and after a welcome coffee and scones took to the greens. After a few hours of competitive play they returned to a welcoming and well-deserved meal. Old friendships were renewed and new friendships made and then came the exciting results and presentation of prizes.
Magazine & Leisure Sub-Committee Chairman Roberta Hall welcomed everyone, especially the new Federation Chairman Elizabeth Warden. Roberta also thanked the President, Lady Captain and Daphne Beggs and all of the staff of Rockmount Golf Club for their help and hospitality.
Federation Chairman Elizabeth Warden then presented the prizes as follows:

After the presentations Roberta then congratulated all the winners and expressed a ‘well done’ to all who had taken part in what turned out to be atrocious weather conditions.
She thanked all the members of the Magazine & Leisure Sub-Committee and then presented a beautiful floral arrangement to Elizabeth Warden. This rounded off a very good day out. We hope to see you all at next year’s tournament!
