Lowerbann Area Group Meeting
The Lower Bann Women’s Institute Area Spring Meeting took place on Thursday 23rd April in Ballyrashane Presbyterian Church Hall. A large number of ladies attend from Aghadowey, Ballyrashane, Coleraine, Exorna, Garvagh, Kilrea, Macosquin and Portstewart Institutes. Award winners were presented with their trophies and creative work by talented members was on display. The guest speaker was Mr Tony Macauley, author of ‘The Paper Boy’, ‘The Bread Boy’ and ‘All Growed Up’. Tony entertained the audience by reading extracts from his books. Many of his tales had everyone in the hall doubled over with laughter. He took time to chat to members and sign copies of his books afterwards. A hilarious sketch entitled ‘The Spinster’s Club’ finished off the entertainment for the evening. A delicious supper was served to all present and a vote of thanks was proposed to all those who had contributed to the success of the evening. The singing of A Countrywomen’s Song concluded the evening.
