The finals of our Annual WI Bowls Tournament took place on Saturday, 9th March 2013 at Killymurris Presbyterian Church, Glarryford.  There was a great turn out of competitors and their supporters, with twenty areas represented.

The spectators were treated to a superb display of bowling skills throughout the tournament.

Close scoring matches were the order of the day and by the time the Finals were played, the ladies concerned had played upwards of twenty-seven ends of bowls!

The Semi-Finalists were:

  • Carol Murray, Holywood WI representing Srabo Area
  • May Best, Killultagh WI representing Lisnagarvey Area
  • Evelyn Galbraith, Eglinton WI representing Londonderry Area
  • Iris Adams, Castlederg WI representing Abercorn Area

After two exciting matches we eventually got our finalists, who were Lisnagarvey and Londonderry.  All eyes were on these ladies who held their nerve to give us a wonderful display of skilful bowling with the scoring alternating between the two for most of the match.

  • The Winner was:  Evelyn Galbraith of Londonderry Area
  • Runner-up:   May Best of Lisnagarvey Area

Our Acting Committee Chairman, Roberta Hall, thanked everyone for competing in, and supporting, the competition.  She thanked Killymurris Church, the Bowling Club, Umpire and the markers, for their invaluable assistance, and the ladies from Glarryford W.I. who provided us with delicious lunches.
