Planting progress

As the Home and Garden Sub-Committee embarks on an exciting new initiative to tackle climate change, we want to say well done to Drumbeg WI and to Betty Lyttle of Portaferry WI – these ladies are already ahead of the game with their tree planting initiatives!
🌳 Job done! Members of Drumbeg WI are pictured below at their newly planted copse of forty-one trees, one for each member in the Institute. The copse was planted in McIlroy Park with the aid of Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council and the saplings were provided by the Woodland Trust. The Institute is working to ensure that all members plant a tree.
🌳 Betty Lyttle of Portaferry WI began planting back in February. Betty has sent us a progress picture to show how her trees have grown as we step into Summer. Betty commented, “They are all in leaf. I will keep them in their pots until the Autumn before I plant them out in the garden. I hope lots of members will buy and plant a tree this year!”

Well done ladies!
…We want to see all your tree planting endeavours. Please email your photographs to: editor@wini.org.uk
