Christmas Event 2015
Let’s Celebrate Christmas!

Three hundred and eighty ladies from WIs all over Northern Ireland had a wonderful day on Saturday 21st November 2015 at the Killyhevlin Hotel in Enniskillen, where everyone gathered for the annual Christmas Event organised by the Home & Garden Sub-committee. The morning commenced with a fascinating cake icing demonstration by Lynn Winslow. Lynn is very creative and all the cakes were works of art!
Naseem Booth followed and showed everyone that Indian cookery doesn’t have to be heavily spiced. She demonstrated a chicken dish in a butter sauce, a most unusual pudding called Kheer, which is a rice and carrot pudding, and after that a fish dish – all of which were delicious. Naseem was also very informative regarding all the Indian spices used and was happy to answer any questions from the audience.
The lunch was served very promptly in four different areas and was an excellent chicken dish. Salmon was served to those who fancied something different.
The afternoon started with floral art expert Timothy Elliot from Lisnaskea, who worked his magic and produced ten flower displays. These were later used as prizes for the raffle. Timothy also made another two hand ties which were presented to Federation Chairman Elizabeth Warden and Vice-Chairman Beth Irwin. Both ladies were thanked for all their help during the day.
There was a good number of entries in the Competition, entitled ‘A Miniature Christmas Stocking’ which could be created using any medium. The overall winner was Kathleen Moore of Ballievey WI who was awarded the Romanian Platter.
Thirty-nine lucky ladies won prizes in the raffle which was a great success. Elizabeth Warden thanked the Committee members for organising the event. Home & Garden Sub-Committee Chairman Collette Craig in turn thanked the hotel, speakers, stall holders and all the WI members and their friends who came along and helped to make this event so enjoyable.
