Erne Area WI Bowls Competition
Kesh WI President, Mrs Sylvia Johnston, welcomed representatives and supporters from the Tamlaght, Kesh, Lisnaskea, Irvinestown and Lisbellaw WI branches and Erne Executive Member Mrs Paddy Leeman to the annual Erne Area WI Bowling Competition held in Kesh Community Centre. Sylvia introduced the umpires for the evening, Ken and Gladys Liggett. Three mats were in use and the play was the best of seven ends resulting in a final between Joan Bell representing Kesh WI and Evelyn Thompson, Tamlaght WI. Both ladies provided an exciting competition with Evelyn emerging as the winner. Evelyn will go forward to represent the Erne Area at the Federation Bowls Final Competition in Killymurris Presbyterian Church Hall on Saturday 7th March. Sylvia presented the Betty Birney Bowling Trophy to Evelyn and congratulated her on behalf of all of the Institutes in the Erne Area, she wished Evelyn every success in the forthcoming competition. Sylvia also presented gifts to Mr and Mrs Liggett. The Kesh ladies provided a delicious supper which was enjoyed by everyone. Paddy Leeman thanked the President and members of the Kesh Insitute for a most enjoyable evening.
