WI Golfer of the Year 2018
On a perfect morning for golfing, eighteen ladies travelled to Killymoon Golf Club in Cookstown to compete in the WI’s annual ‘Golfer of the Year’ Competition.
On arrival, the ladies enjoyed freshly prepared tea, coffee and scones in the Clubhouse. The competitors then made their way to the first tee box, to begin what proved to be a very enjoyable but challenging round of golf. On completion of the course, the ladies enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by the Club’s restaurant staff.
Dorothy Andrew, newly appointed as Chairman of the Magazine and Leisure Sub-Committee, warmly greeted everyone, especially newly elected Federation Chairman, Collette Craig. Dorothy thanked all the WI members for taking part and passed the announcement of the various prizes over to Committee member Linda Peak, who has played a vital role in organising the tournament over the past six years.

After the presentation of awards, Federation Chairman Collette Craig heartily congratulated all the winners, especially the overall winner and ‘WI Golfer of the Year 2018‘- Harriet Frazer of Moneyrea WI, who was awarded the prestigious Milk Marketing Board Salver. In turn, Collette was presented with a beautiful floral arrangement as a token of appreciation.
The members of the Magazine and Leisure Sub-Committee would like to thank the staff of Killymoon Golf Club for their assistance on the day and in the run-up to the event and, particularly, for the wonderful prize of a free four-ball game worth £100 for the winner!
