Quiz Final 2016
The WI Quiz Final took place in Hillsborough Village Centre on Wednesday 18th May, with twenty-one Areas taking part. Magazine and Leisure Sub-Committee Chairman Ann McCurdy welcomed everyone and introduced the new Quizmaster, Beverley Weir. Beverley instructed the team members on the evening’s itinerary, advising on the format and outlining the rules. The competition then commenced. After five hard-fought rounds, Iveagh had a narrow lead on Roe Valley. Six other teams qualified for the final- Abercorn, Ards Peninsula, Lisnagarvey, Quoile, Ranfurly, and Rowallane.
During the break a delicious supper was provided by the ladies from Maghaberry WI and Maze Brookfield WI, after which the teams took their seats for the remaining five rounds.
Roe Valley took the lead in round two, increasing this in each round of the final rounds and emerging as the deserving winners. Iveagh and Rowallane tied in second place. Federation Chairman Elizabeth Warden presented the trophy and prizes to the worthy winners.
