SCRABO /ARDS AREA BOWLS 2015
A cold but dry Saturday in February saw another get together of the circle of friends to contest both areas bowls competitions.
A smaller turnout was a bit disappointing for Scrabo as they were this year`s organisers.
Maybe the Ireland v Italy rugby match had a little to do with it. Who knows!!!!!
Anyway , I set my recorder button and thoroughly enjoyed the match later with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc.
Naughty but nice!!!!!. Now back to business.
Scrabo President Florence and Federation Chairman Margaret warmly welcomed all present and so the Competitions began.
A big thank you to the members who represented their Institutes. The matches were closely contested and
accurate bowling was warmly applauded by those watching. Nice to see such warm spontaneous support.
Scrabo Area saw their final winner Carol Murray (Holywood W.I.) and runner up Eileen Wilson (Ballysallagh W.I.)
presented with their trophies and flowering plant pot
Ards Area saw their final winner Elsie Miskimmon (Portaferry W.I.) and Dorothy Henry (Ballygrainey W.I.)
presented with their trophies and flowering plant pots also.
Ards Area President Pamela thanked all concerned in the organising especially St Galls Church and bowling
club for their assistance on the day .Two very brave men Mr Ballintine and Mr Esdale were congratulated on their umpiring skills
and Ballysallagh W.I. for their deelish afternoon tea.
It`s lovely to have these opportunities to meet, chat and catch up with our friends.
