Scrapbook Competition 2023

Each year entrants to the Scrapbook Competition use various craft techniques, materials, photography and layouts to compile a vivid, colourful scrapbooks and single pages depicting the story of their Institute’s activities from the previous WI year. Entries to the 2023 Competition had to document the events of the September 2021 – June 2022 WI season, a time when some normality was returning and Institutes were starting emerge from Covid-19 pandemic. Despite the uncertainty of this time, our members still had lots of stories to share! Great attention to detail and lots of hard work is involved in the time-consuming activity of scrapbooking and papercraft and each year the judge has the very difficult task of choosing the winners from a very high standard of entries. The trophies for the Scrapbook Competition are presented at the AGM in the Europa Hotel, when the scrapbooks and single pages sit proudly on display for other members to admire.

Thank you to all the ladies who took the time to create an entry in support of this competition and congratulations to the winners!

Broughshane WI – winners of the Waringstown Cup in the ‘Open Class’ for their 1st place full scrapbook.

Donaghadee WI – runners-up in the ‘Open Class’ for their lovely full book.

‘Flying High’ – Mosside WI’s winning ‘Front Cover’ page.

The best ‘Single Page’ by Mosside WI, showcasing their Evening of Art, earnt them the Crystal Bowl.

Newtownbreda WI – 3rd place for their ‘Single Page’ which celebrated the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in June 2022. They even included a cute little handbag which opened up to reveal a marmalade sandwich inside!

Broughshane WI – runners-up in the ‘Single Page’ class for their festive December page, which featured a secret compartment that opened out to revealed hidden photographs tucked safely inside!
