On a lovely Spring morning the WI ladies made their way through the orchards of County Armagh to attend the Music festival in St Saviour’s Church Hall, Portadown.  Despite the date having been changed due to poor weather conditions last month, the event was very well attended with the hall filled to capacity.  Arts chairman Ethel Simpson welcomed everyone, including Federation Chairman Margaret Collinson and the adjudicator Mr Michael Harris, BA PGCE.  After a morning of beautiful choir singing that raised the roof, the afternoon took the form of solos, which were equally entertaining.  In his sum up, Mr Harris congratulated all of the singers on their brilliant effort and related how delighted he was that they made the commitment to promote music throughout the country.  Chairman Margaret presented the awards and encouraged everyone to bring their friends next time to enjoy such a great day’s entertainment.  Ethel concluded the day by thanking everyone for their support and all the ladies joined in singing A Country Woman’s song.
