The Magazine and Leisure Sub-Committee hosted the Federation Final of the 2019 Bowls tournament, held in Omagh Presbyterian Church Hall on Saturday 30th March.  There were representatives from each of the twenty-one Areas and with friends and supporters the hall filled rapidly, with extra seating needed

Following the welcome refreshments, play got under way with the first eight bowlers taking to the mats for their head-to-head knockout matches. Once all the first round matches had been played there was a break for lunch, before heading into the quarter finals.  With some close matches before the final, four players were announced.

Carol Murray from Scrabo played Noelle Graham from Roe Valley, with Stephanie McLean from Clogher Valley playing Jean Clarke from Slemish.  After two closely fought matches it was the ladies from Scrabo and Slemish that prevailed.

The ten end final was a very close affair between two stylish players, neither of whom had won before, and the outcome was not clear until the very end when Jean Clarke took the trophy, with Carol a worthy runner-up.

Federation Treasurer Pamela Brown, who enjoyed her day at an event that she had not previously attended, expressed her pleasure at being there to make the presentation to Jean and Carol.

Magazine and Leisure Sub-Committee Chairman Dorothy Andrews thanked all those who had helped in any way to make the day a success – the Church for the facilities and the catering, the Bowling Club for setting up the venue, all the bowlers who had taken part, and her Committee. She expressed the hope that everyone had enjoyed the day, finally presenting Pamela with a basket of flowers and wishing all a safe journey home.
