(above) Executive Member Tracey presents area  quiz winners Islandmagee North with their trophy

Situated in the east of Co. Antrim, the Inver Area is named after the ‘Inver River’ on which the town of Larne is located.  Larne is a thriving seaport with frequent daily sailings to and from Scotland.  There are ten institutes within the Inver Area: Ballycarry, Ballynure, Cairncastle, Glenarm, Gleno, Islandmagee North, Larne, Magheramorne, Millbrook and Whitehead.  Meetings are held monthly from September to June and each institute  elects its own committee to arrange their  programme of events.  In addition, an area committee, with two representatives from each of the ten institutes, meets during the year to organise various events in which all area members can participate.  Forthcoming events include:

  • One Day Craft Workshop – Sat. 13th April 2013
  • Coffee Party in aid of International Projects Fund – Sat. 27th April 2013
  • A.C.W.W. Women Walk the World – Sun.28th April 2013
  • Area Competitions Day –  Sat. 11th May 2013

(entries for competitions close on 26th March)                                         For further info on any of the above contact Tracey on 93324459

The area quiz  was held on Wed. 20th February 2013. After a close fought battle, with many tricky questions, the victors were Islandmagee North. A tie breaker was needed to separate Ballynure and Larne, with Larne emerging as the runners up. Well done to all and thank you to Tracey, our quizmaster, and Glenarm W.I. for providing the welcome tea and biscuits.

2nd place in the area quiz were Larne W.I.
