The Inver Area Autumn Meeting was held on 16th October 2013 in ‘The Head of the Town’ Church  Hall, Larne. After welcoming everyone Chairperson Isobel reported on events that had happened during the year – the area quiz and bowls competitions, a coffee party and sponsored walk in aid of ACWW, a one day school in April and the area Competitions Day held in May. Caroline, our treasurer, presented the financial statement  and Executive Member Tracey gave us an update on activities at headquarters before introducing our speaker for the evening- Mrs. Elizabeth Warden, International Sub-Committee.  Elizabeth explained how all the money raised for ACWW is put to good use, highlighting worthy causes in Tonga, Cameroon and India – members were encouraged to attend the Autumn Council Meeting in Omagh to hear more details about the differences these projects are making to people’s lives.  We all admired a prize winning ‘Reusable shopping bag’, made from ties by a member of Seaforde W.I., a Joey from Australia and a bowl from India which is to be one of the ballot prizes at the Autumn Council Meeting. Elizabeth concluded by reading a lovely, thought provoking African Child’s Poem.  Entertainment for the evening was provided by Whitehead W.I. and took the form of ‘A Talent Show’. Contestants were none other than Dolly Parton, Elvis Presley and Tina Turner!! Well done ladies for a most enjoyable item!    A delicious supper was provided by Cairncastle, Glenarm and Millbrook W.I’s and the evening concluded with the singing of ‘A Country Woman’s Song’.
