Gosford Area Meeting
A very successful Spring Area meeting was held in Armagh. Chairperson Sylvia Gillow welcomed everyone from the 12 Institutes in the Area. After all the reports the prizes were presented By Executive member Carole Baird the Rosebowl to Marie Cairns Glenanne for floral arrangement;Marie was also represented with the trophy she won at Balmoral show for best in show. Reta Gilmore Cladymiltown received the Arts trophy for watercolour,; to Lynda Pollock Milford for best article in Magazine; Ann Patton Collone for area bowls and Barbara Windley collected the trophy for Maytown on winning the area quiz. Ann Eccleson Jerrettspass was represented with 4 trophies she won at AGM for various crafts and 1 to Jerrettspass for her work. Carole was presented by Sylvia the trophy for Glenanne for scrapbook page. Allison Hutcheson Mountnorris won the salver for short story but was unfortunately absent. Peggy Bloomer and Ann Eccleson were awarded a silver spinning wheel each for craft work.
The speaker for the evening was Martin Mc Guckin who kept everyone enthralled with his stories of life as a metropolitan police officer guarding the royal palaces. After all the thank you speeches Sylvia closed the meeting with the singing of Country Woman’s song.
