Annalong Women’s Institute – June Outing 2017
ANNALONG W. I – OUTING TO HILLSBOROUGH CASTLE
On Saturday June 24th a coach party of members and friends set out on their outing at 8 p.m.
First stop off was at for a much enjoyed morning coffee at “Ashvale Farm Restaurant” Then on to Sprucefield for shopping. Back on the coach again we travelled the short distance to Hillsborough Castle where we had a pre-arranged guided tour of this amazing stately home. Hillsborough Castle stepped in history is now on the list of Royal Palaces and is the residence of The Royal Family when visiting Northern Ireland also the home of The Secretary Of State. With improving weather we were able to stroll in the beautifully maintained gardens of the castle. Rockmount Golf Club was the venue chosen for dinner and a delicious meal was enjoyed by all. This outing concluded a fun filled year of activities celebrating the 80th anniversary of Annalong Women’s Institute.
Annalong W.I. – An Grianan Weekend
In June Annalong Women’s Institute enjoyed the annual weekend away at An Grianan
Residential College near Drogheda, meeting with members of The Irish Country Women’s
Association from Cork, Kildare, Tallaght and Wexford.
Classes in craft, art, relaxation and a Boyne Valley walking tour were much enjoyed.
Saturday night was the usual party night and Georgina brought along her usual Musical
Dressing up game in which everyone joined and the ICA ladies took home the idea for their parties,
Including one wedding party! Annalong W.I. was congratulated on their 80th anniversary by fellow
ICA members. A surprise birthday party with cake and candles was sprung on one unsuspecting
Annalong W.I. member. The party returned home on the Sunday afternoon with memories of another great weekend, ladies with their craft products, and the walking group with wet boots and clothing after being caught in a downpour on their last walk along the windswept golf course.

Annalong W.I. A.G.M. will be held on Thursday 7th September and a very interesting programme of events have been arranged for the coming year including talks , demonstrations and outings . Monthly meetings are held on the 1st Thursday of the month in the local Community Hall at 7.30 p.m. New members are made very welcome
