Annalong Women’s Institute September 2019
The AGM of Annalong WI was held on Thursday 5th September, a welcome was extended to everyone in attendance by the outgoing President Olive Hanna and in particular to Edwina Marr and Ann Liggot. Sylvia Newell paid tribute to our Honourary Member Jean Gordon who recently passed away. Jean had been a member for over 50 years and despite being housebound due to illness in recent years kept up to date with WI events. A minute’s silence was observed in her memory and sympathy is extended to her husband Stanley and her four sons.
The business of the meeting got underway with annual reports read, offices declared vacant and new committee duly elected. Edwina , ably assisted by her husband Dougie, presented a slideshow of photos illustrating her trip to Melbourne in April when attending the triannual ACWW conference. Newly elected President Olive Hanna presented a gift to Edwina and Ann as a token of thanks to our guests.
A presentation was also made to Norma Fisher who celebrated 60 years of marriage on the 4th August, warmest congratulations are extended to her and her husband on this occasion.
Thanks were expressed to tea hostesses, Patricia, Georgina, Evelyn and Rose for provision of a delightful supper. Congratulations were extended to the ladies who entered craft competitions at local shows over the summer. Birthday gift for September went to Evelyn and Anniversary gift to Olive Hanna while several other ladies won gifts in the raffle.
A full programme of events is planned for the winter months and a warm welcome awaits anyone wishing to join us, the next meeting is Thursday 3rd October in Annalong Community Hall at 7.30 pm. It would be appreciated if ladies could bring their annual fees of £22 which are now due to this meeting.
