Erne Area Quiz
A great number of the Erne Area members were welcomed by the host branch Chairman, Mrs Betty Veitch, Lisbellaw W.I., to the Tamlaght W.I. Hall. Each of the nine branches fielded a team of three members. Norma Heap, Area Executive Member was quiz master for the evening. The questions were interesting and at times amusing thus leading to an enjoyable evening; the results were very close with the Tamlaght team, Evelyn Thompson, Anne McCarthy and Emily McLoughlin winning by one point over the Lisnaskea team, Christine Cunningham, Glenda Richmond and Linda Cassidy. The Brookeborough team, Joy Coalter, Barbara Clarke and Mary Dunn were placed third and Derrygonnelly, Robena Elliott, Janet Morris and Amanda Brown were placed fourth. The winning team will be presented with the Angela Jardine Silver Salver at the Area Meeting and will represent the Erne Area at the Quiz Finals in Hillsborough, 18th May.
A refreshing supper was served by the Lisbellaw members before the Area business was conducted. Betty passed on the details of the forthcoming Area Meeting to take place 4th May in the Lisbellaw Parish Centre when the speaker will be Seamus McAnnaidh. Norma congratulated Tamlaght on their success and wished them well at the Quiz Finals, she also congratulated Anna Marshall on winning the Area Bowling Competition and wished her well in the Bowling Finals. Norma passed on details of the Balmoral Show Fundraiser event requirements from each branch, she also relayed details of the forthcoming AGM where the speaker will be Olivia Giles and urged the members to attend. Norma thanked the Lisbellaw members for hosting the evening and thanked the members for their attendance before wishing everyone a safe journey home.
