The Iveagh Area of the Women’s Institute held their Spring Meeting in the Young Farmers Hall in Rathfriland on Friday 27th April 2018.

President Rosemary Harbinson’s first business was to thank outgoing Executive Member, Roberta Mathers for 6 years of hard word and dedication in the Area. Roberta in turn welcomed the new Executive Member Sandra Ledley from Waringstown WI.

Reports were read from 5 Institutes: Artana, Ballievey, Closkelt, Dollingstown and Fourtowns. Reports were also read by Leslie Martin from the Balmoral subcommittee, Iris Megaw from the Homecraft subcommittee, Roberta Mathers from the Homes and Garden subcommittee and Jennifer Taylor from the International subcommittee.

Entertainment was provided by Jimmy Will, who told stories and sang songs.

Kathleen Moore, Ballievey WI won the Wooden Fruit Bowl for her beautiful crocheted baby blanket.

The final entertainment was a demonstration of communicating with deaf people, and we all learned some words and letters in sign language from Sandra Ledley of Waringstown WI.

Thank you
