Iveagh – Spring Area Meeting

 The Iveagh Area of the Women’s Institute held the annual Spring Meeting in Loughbrickland Presbyterian Church hall on Friday 29th April.

There were 72 members in attendance, with all Institutes in the Iveagh Area represented.

Area Chairperson Elma Somerville welcomed everyone and expressed her delight at being able to meet again in person.

The Sub-Committee reports were presented as follows: Balmoral – Elma Somerville,  Homecraft – Anne Martin, International – Davida Irvine, Magazine and Leisure – Ada Elliott.

The sales table was maned by Warringstown WI and a stunning floral arrangement was provided by Loughbrickland WI.

Institute reports were given by Artana, Ballievy, Closkelt, Dollingstown and Fourtown WIs.

The guests for the evening were Eileen and David Beamish who delighted the audience with beautiful harp and flute music.  Eileen explained how music can be beneficial for your well-being.

The competition for a decorated hairband was won by Elizabeth Cross of Artana WI.

A delicious supper was served by Fourtowns WI.

Rathfriland WI entertained with poetry and stories in a segment entitled ‘A Quire Gag’!

Linda Ingles of St. Johns WI delivered the general vote of thanks.
