 Vice President Olive Gordon warmly welcomed members to the last meeting before the summer break on Thursday 11th May in the local Community Hall  Olive had a special welcome for her nephew Andrew Boyd speaker for the evening. Andrew gave a very interesting talk on his business Kilmegan Cider. Andrew explained his first interest in producing cider began when owing to a large surplus of apples in his family orchard he decided to try his hand at cider making. From humble beginnings to the present day Kilmegan Tradionally Hand Crafted Irish Cider has won many national and international awards   including The British Cider Championship Award   Andrew was ably assisted by his cousin Heather Trimble who distributed samples of the various ciders for members to taste. Andrew recalled many amusing incidents of his visits to Annlong in his youth. Iris Gordon proposed a vote of thanks to Andrew and presented him with a token of appreciation.

Everyone then tucked into a delicious “Pot Luck Supper” provided by the members, and the business of the meeting followed. Secretary Olive Hanna read the correspondence which included Thank You Cards received after 80th Anniversary Dinner also a card from fellow member Norma Fisher who is making a good recovery after her accident. The Vice President welcomed Rhoda Newell back after a procedure in hospital. Georgina gave an update on the travel arrangements for the Outing on Saturday 24th June to Hillsborough Castle. Coach pick up in Kilkeel at Graham’s Garage at 8 a.m.and leaving Annalong Corner at 8.30 a.m. sharp. .

Birthday Girls: Barbara Purdy, Rose Allan, June Stevenson, Yvonne Adams, and Olive Hanna.

Anniversaries: Iris Gordon, Charlotte Campbell, June Mc Kibben, Evelyn Trimble and Marie Mc Glue/

Many received Raffle Prizes and the singing of “The Country Women’s Song brought a very busy meeting to a close.

Outing to Hillsborough Castle — Saturday 24th June

Next meeting will be on September 7th  will be the A.G. M.

Annalong W.I. welcomes new members . Meetings are held on 1st Thursday of each month in the Community Hall at 7.30 p. m.
