ANNALONG  W.I.   A. G. M  

President Sylvia Newell warmly welcomed an excellent attendance of members to the A.G M which was held in the local Community Hall on Thursday 7th September.  In her opening remarks Sylvia thanked the out going committee especially Secretary Olive Hanna   for their dedication and attention to duty over the past very busy year. The President then handed over to Visiting Chairperson, Past Quoile Area Executive Member, Mrs. Nora Lennon who took charge of proceedings and declared all offices vacant. Nora was accompanied by Liz Cleland & Doris Lennon who acted as tellers . Comprehensive reports were read by Secretary Olive Hanna and financial report was read by Treasurer Iris Gordon. Election of officers followed and Olive Hanna was duly elected President–and the following members will serve on committee for the year ’17—’18. Secretary Lorna Sloan, Treasurer Iris Gordon, Vice President Sylvia Newell, Edith Edgar, Georgina Rooney ,Patricia Holman, Charlotte Campbell. Marie Mc Glue   and Yvonne Adams.

Sylvia discussed the new programme for the coming year and informed the meeting that a cheque for £50 had been forwarded to A.C.C.W “ Women Walk The World Campaign” which members carried out at An Grianan in June. A special welcome back was extended to Norma Fisher and Rhoda Newell who had been absent for some time. Congratulations were conveyed to Evelyn Trimble and husband John who celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary, Evelyn & John were married on July 26th 1967. Olive Gordon was also congratulated on a special birthday which she recently celebrated. We had much pleasure in welcoming two new members Margaret Newell and Lorraine Haugh. An  Invitation was received from Downpatrick Institute   — “A Musical Tour Of Ireland” on Wednesday 11th October .

Many received Raffle prizes.

A delicious supper was served by Tea Hostesses  Georgina ,Evelyn, Patricia and Rose. The Singing of the Country Women’s Song brought a busy meeting to a close

Next meeting on October 5th will be a talk by “Geratic Traveller”. Competition “ Oldest Coin”

New members are made very welcome. Meetings are held on 1st Thursday of each month in Annalong Community Hall Marine Park l at 7.30p.m.
