Seaforde Women’s Institute – February 2017 news
The President welcomed our guest Speaker Phyllis Annett from the Craft Loft in Newcastle who told us how to rejuvenate some of our old furniture and liven up cushions, placemats, lamps, etc. using Annie Sloan chalk paints and decoupage glue. We were enthralled with the transformations Phyllis made and one brave member had a go at it too, Elizabeth Fleming gave a well-deserved vote of thanks. Competition winners were 1st Helen Rea, 2nd Margaret Broome and 3rd Elizabeth Fleming. As there were no birthdays in February we drew two ballots, won by Vivienne Dumigan and Pam McDonagh. Last Saturday night we held a most successful quiz in the Lakeside Inn, Downpatrick with Arthur Gibson as our quizmaster. Amount raised, including donations, was £546.50. Our outside charity this year is Lecale Lodge Patient’s Comforts Fund. Thanks to all who made it such an enjoyable night.
