Visitors, from Ballywalter, Dundonald, Seaforde.

Pamela introduced our Guest speaker for the evening, Sharon Dickson.

Sharon, did a monologue of the Belfast Blitz, Sharon known as Minnie Davidson in the monologue talked about the family being evacuated after hearing that the country was at war, talked about blackout blinds, ration books and of some of the sayings of those days such as, babies born under a gooseberry bush, this brought back memories to our members. She informed us at the end of her monologue that these were all memories of her own mother!

The vote of thanks was given by Gail Taggart.

After a lovely supper provided and served by committee our visitor’s birthday girl for April was Helen Robinson from Ballywalter who was given a little gift.

The minutes of 5th March were read followed by announcements as follows;

  • A.C.W.W. walk on Saturday 27th April 11.00 Delamont, no members to go!
  • Volunteers to bake for Balmoral show, 15th – 18th May, food to be left as usual in McCann’s on Tuesday 14th for Pamela to pick up, Spring Area meeting, Tuesday 30th April 7.30pm .
  • Spring Area meeting, Seaforde, Tuesday 30th April,7.30pm entrance,£5.00.
  • A bring and buy sale to be held at May meeting.
  • Outing Tuesday 4th June, some details of prices were given for Hillsborough Castle, with tea at Edengrove Presbyterian Church, Ballynahinch, decision to be made at May meeting. Thirteen members to date are going.

Birthday girls for April: Andrea Barkley, Margaret McDowell, Margaret Brundle.

The meeting was concluded with the singing of “The Country Women’s Song”
