Seaforde Women’s Institute- February 2019 news
President Jennifer Heenan welcomed everyone, especially visitors Susan McAuley and our Federation Vice Chairman and Executive Member Edwina Marr. She sent good wishes to Doreen Radcliff who is still in hospital and Nan Carson who is convalescing. Our meeting took the form of an Auction, with Margaret Broome as Auctioneer and Annabel Cleland as her able assistant. Members had excelled themselves with numerous items to sell and after much banter and many good bargains £185 was raised. A cheque was given to Edwina for Associated Country Women of the World who support many projects in Third World countries. Our competition was for an International Postage Stamp and was won by Hilda Fleming with Vivienne Dumigan second and Helen Rea Third. The Ballot and Birthday gift were both won by Lily Smith. Members had brought some non-perishable items which will be donated to Downpatrick Food Bank. The meeting closed with the singing of the Countrywoman’s Song.
Our Annual Table quiz will take place next Saturday 16th February at the Lakeside Inn, Ballyduggan at 8pm. Local institutes are warmly invited to come along and enjoy the craic. Proceeds for our outside charity this year Rural Support.
