Cilla Green Teas

Our October meeting with newly elected President Jennifer Heenan welcoming everyone, especially two new members Mary Dawe and Mary Wilson and Carol and Jean as prospective members. Our speaker was Robert Bell from S.D. Bells tea company. He gave us a wonderful insight into the story of tea – when and where it originated, how it has influenced our culture, the process of tea making and how it was partly responsible for the American War of Independence (curtsey of the Boston Tea Party!) We learned many new and fascinating facts about a drink that we all enjoy and that Ireland comes third in the tea drinkers of the world (Turkey first and Morocco second) Judith Wainwright gave the vote of thanks. Competition winners for a china teacup and saucer were 1st Cilla Green; 2nd Lily Smith 3rd Margaret Broome; the ballot was won by Eileen Milligan and the birthday gift went to Lorraine Bothwell.
