Pam introduced our Guest speaker for the evening, Clive O’Neill.

Clive who is President of Chamber Trade gave us an insight of his life as a market trader which he has been doing for 40 years. His business as a greengrocer started from door to door before setting up a stall in Newtownards where he always has some interesting and funny stories to tell.

The vote of thanks was given by Mavis.

After supper, the minutes of 2nd April were read, followed by announcements as follows;

  • A.C.W.W. walk was cancelled and rescheduled for Saturday 11th May.
  • Members were reminded to leave produce for Balmoral show, as usual in McCann’s on Tuesday 14th for Pamela to pick up.
  • An invitation to Slievenaman Thursday 19th September, Venue, Bryansford Church,
  • Our fundraiser to the cinema raised, £181.00, Ballot on the night raised £90.00.
  • Members were informed; Killinchy’s charity for the year was a donation to Brian Gault, on behalf of the Brazilian Thalidomide Charity.
  • Eileen gave members details of our outing on Tuesday 4th June, to Hillsborough Castle, with tea at Edengrove Presbyterian Church, Ballynahinch, and to meet in church carpark for 1.00pm.

Competition Winners for “A Shopping bag/basket” 1st, Pamela Shanks. 2nd Lynne Weir.

No Birthday girls in May.

June Birthdays, Marty Sloan, Gail Taggart, Helen Warden, Hilary Watson, Jennifer Foreman.

 

The meeting was concluded with the singing of “The Country Women’s Song”.
